As a pelvic surgeon, Dr. Margolis has established his medical practice to help women suffering from incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse and a variety of surgical problems involving the female pelvis.
He has served leadership roles in his field, serving as founder and director of both the Center for Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery at the Women's Cancer Center of Northern California and the Stanford Center for Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery/Urogynecology, both based in the Bay Area of northern California.
Dr. Margolis earned his medical degree at the University of Kansas
Medical Center in Kansas City, KS; he also completed his obstetrics and gynecology residency there under the direction of Dr. Kermit Krantz. He continued with a fellowship in pelvic surgery under the direction of Dr. Clifford Wheeless at the Emory University Hospital System in Atlanta, GA, where he also held a faculty position as instructor. He then held faculty positions as assistant professor in the departments of Gynecology and Obstetrics at Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago, Illinois and Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA, where he also served as chief of the Division of Gynecology.
Dr. Margolis has published several articles in major peer reviewed journals and has been a reviewer for many journals as well. He has lectured nationally and internationally to medical students, resident and faculty physicians and community physicians on the subject of pelvic surgery. He has traveled to Africa and South America serving as a mission surgeon to women suffering from fistulas and other surgical gynecologic disorders.
