Dr. Amar Atwal is the Medical Director and Founder of Atwal Eye Care / Buffalo Eye Care Associates. Dr. Atwal specializes in Laser Vision
Correction, a procedure for patients with Myopia (nearsightedness), Hyperopia (farsightedness) or Astigmatism to reduce or eliminate their
dependence on glasses or contacts. This procedure utilizes the Excimer Laser to gently reshape the cornea. The latest Laser Vision Correction procedures are called LASIK and PRK.
As a complete eye care provider, Atwal Eye Care / Buffalo Eye Care Associates also offers a large selection of glasses and contacts at our various offices. Our licensed Opticians will help you in the selection of the frame and style just right for you.

Meet DR. AMAR S. ATWAL, M.D.
Dr. Amar Atwal is the Founder and Medical Director of Atwal Eye Care/Buffalo Eye Care Associates and Buffalo Ambulatory Surgery Center, a New York State and Medicare approved Ambulatory Surgery Center. Dr. Atwal specializes in Laser Vision Correction including, LASIK (Laser Assisted in-Situ Keratomileusis) and PRK (Photo Refractive Keratectomy).
Dr. Atwal began Refractive procedures in 1986 when he performed his first R.K. (Radial Keratotomy) procedure. Radial Keratotomy was an early refractive procedure that used incisions to change the shape of the cornea. In 1996, after the approval of the Excimer Laser in the United States, Dr. Atwal opened an Excimer Laser facility at the 3095 Harlem Road office. He has performed thousands of refractive surgery procedures. Dr. Atwal also specializes in "no stitch" incision cataract surgery, glaucoma treatment and surgery and other laser procedures.
Dr. Atwal received his doctorate from Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research in Chankigarh, India. He served as an intern at Mercy Hospital. He opened his practice in Western New York in 1980. He is a diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology, member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, New York State Ophthalmological Society, The International Society of Refractive Surgery and Fellow of American Academy of Ophthalmology.
